RALEIGH, N.C. (April 5, 2017) — A former temporary elections worker has been charged with fraud for allegedly trying to change North Carolina voter registrations of about 250 convicted felons so they could vote in last November’s election.
Joy Yvette Wilkerson, 41, of Henderson was charged Tuesday with three counts, including two felonies. She was released on bond and faces an April 17 court appearance.
The State Board of Elections says the changes were caught and corrected before last fall’s election.
Wilkerson was hired through an outside agency for the Granville County elections board.
