A signed pledge should be binding, unless you’re a Democrat elector in Washington and Colorado trying to manipulate the system to block the election of Donald Trump in 2016. On July 6, in a rare unanimous decision, the Supreme Court ruled states can enforce electoral pledges ignored by rogue political activists. This is a win not just for voters, but affirms the critical need for the electoral college itself.
